On Saturday, 16 October 2021, from 19:00, Antik/Avantgárd concert at the Aquincum Museum!
The concert features new works by young Hungarian composers which reflect on the the subject of antiquity. The pieces are not reconstructions of ancient music, but rather avant-garde compositions which interpret and re-interpret ancient Greek and Roman subjects. The concert presents both ancient texts in the original language set to music as well as instrumental chamber pieces. In addition to the longer pieces, each composer sets to music an ancient epigram, which – set between the longer pieces – give an organic frame to the concert.
Following their premiere at the Cella Septichora Visitor Centre in Pécs, the works will also be presented at the Aquincum Museum on 16 October 2021. The length of the concert is around 65 minutes, without intermission.
Free admission. Registration required at aquincum@aquincum.hu
The event may only be attended by coronavirus immunity certificate holders and minors in their care.
